International Provider of Fraud Management Training and Detection Services Taps Dataupia™ Satori Server to Gain Deeper Access to Telco Data Records

Cambridge, MA - June 18, 2007 - Dataupia Corporation today announced that Focus Data Services has selected the Dataupia?Satori Server 12000 to achieve unprecedented access to data stored in its Focus 112 Disclosure System (112). The 112 software system is used by telecommunications companies across the United Kingdom to process police and emergency service requests for Call Detail Record (CDR) data and information.

Focus chose the Dataupia Satori Server to serve as the underlying architecture of the 112 system due to its scalability, ease-of-use, cost-effectiveness and unique ability to optimize legacy data systems. Dataupia has allowed Focus to eliminate disparate data sources and gain access to greater volumes of data. Additionally, the Dataupia Satori Server has improved the performance of inquiry times, making it easier and more affordable to process queries.

Focus' use of the Dataupia Satori Server has proved particularly beneficial in its work with telecommunications companies that archive data on tape. In the UK, the Police and emergency services make approximately one million requests to telecommunications carriers for historical call data every year. Considering that each day of data is stored on a separate tape, the administration required to retrieve 30 days of call data for one cell phone can be time and resource intensive. Dataupia allows Focus to consolidate data from multiple systems into one source effectively and economically, enabling complicated queries to be conducted much faster.

"On average, we process about 10,000 data retrieval inquiries made by police and emergency personnel to telephone carriers every month. Managing these requests can place tremendous strains on our internal resources," said Ray Green, Managing Director, Focus Data Services. "With Dataupia, we are leveraging a solution that costs approximately 20 percent of a traditional data management system, while meeting the data retention capacity needs of the organizations we serve. Moreover, by automating approximately 80-90 percent of data query processes, we are experiencing significant time and cost savings."

European telecommunications carriers must retain large amounts of CDR data to remain compliant with EU Data Retention Directive requirements. As such, they require data management systems that can adequately store and provide real-time access to massive volumes of data. Unlike other solutions that displace legacy technology or specialize in one kind of data access, the Dataupia Satori Server allows organizations to amplify existing information management systems. By easing many of the burdens associated with data management initiatives, Dataupia allows telecommunications companies to make smarter decisions and meet today's stringent compliance and regulatory mandates.

"Organizations, regardless of industry, can no longer rely on traditional approaches that store data "off-line" and impede data access and retrieval," said Foster Hinshaw, CEO, Dataupia. "In the case of police inquiries, limited access to data can have severe consequences. The work that Focus is doing in the area of telco forensic crime analysis makes society safer and in some cases saves lives. We are proud to support Focus by serving as the underlying architecture that enables affordable access to mission-critical data."

The Dataupia Satori Server data management system is an all-in-one solution - server, storage, and optimization software packaged as a single appliance - designed specifically to deliver persistent access to as much data as an organization needs. The combination of highly specialized software and powerful processors allows large amounts of data to remain on-line and ready for use. The Dataupia Satori Server, installs quickly, requires little administration, and scaling for more users or more data is seamless, continuous, and as simple as inserting a new blade.
